We are currently seeking a Longwall Coordinator to join our production team at Mettiki Coal LLC, located in Davis, WV.
Salary Position
Requirements:
• Must hold a West Virginia Experienced Underground Miner Certification.
• Must hold a Federal and West Virginia State Electrical Certification.
• Must hold West Virginia Foreman’s Certification
• Must be willing to work weekends as necessary to perform maintenance requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or mining engineering or equivalent and/or 5+ years Longwall Mining Experience preferred.
• Must have high level of understanding MSHA regulations and Mechanical and Electrical Codes of Practice
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs
• 5+ years of supervisor experience.
• Ability to communicate with others
Responsibilities:
The Longwall Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the longwall planning is proficiently managed. This includes Longwall infrastructure, safety, equipment, materials, staffing, cost efficiencies, and planning with minimal interruption to the production of the mine.
Duties will include:
• Manage the longwall equipment short and long-term planning, tracking and inventory.
• Oversee daily production activities to meet budgeted goals.
• Monitor work progress, resolve issues affecting production, and ensure all tasks are completed on schedule.
• Develop longwall setup and recovery planning, inventory, with daily work plans and timing.
• Identify and implement improvements targeting safety, reliability and cost savings with longwall equipment and materials.
• Communication between the mining team, company leadership, and regulatory agencies (state and federal).
• Ensure clear communication regarding operational performance, safety incidents, and compliance issues.
• Address any operational issues that arise, including safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or labor concerns.
• Implement corrective actions quickly to minimize disruptions to operations.
• This is a full-time, onsite position in an underground coal mining environment.
• Work hours may include nights, weekends, and extended hours depending on operational needs
Physical Requirements - Underground:
• Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces.
• Perform emergency and preventive maintenance, including electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair/replacement of component parts, on all production and support equipment.
• Must be able to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and hydraulic prints.
• Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds regularly.
• Operate equipment and use various hand tools as required.
• Work closely with others in a team effort.
